Presenting a new model of innovative and entrepreneurial universities for the next generation

After 5 years of research and gathering opinions from various industries, researchers at Amirkabir University of Technology presented a new model of strategic management of innovative and entrepreneurial universities, the results of which have been published in the Journal of the Knowledge Economy.

According to the Amirkabir University of Technology Public Relations, Dr. Mehdi Majidpour, head of the research team, said: “Future-generation universities are required to carry out multidimensional and even contradictory missions and must have effective skills for constructive interaction with various audiences, including public and private companies, governments, and students, in order to be able to show the greatest efficiency in their performance.”

He added: “Today, old models such as the Triple-Helix do not have the necessary effectiveness in the governance space, and this research proposes a new model for managing future-generation universities.” This research is based on collecting field data from more than 20 different industries, including energy-based industries, mining industries, aerospace, telecommunications, food industries, defense, banking, etc., which is unique in its kind – in terms of data comprehensiveness.

Dr. Majidpour added: This research also conducted a comparative study of 55 universities in the world (ranked from 1 to 1000 with geographical diversity) and presented an analysis of their policies.

The Dean of the Faculty of Management, Science and Technology noted: In addition to examining the role of financing institutions (such as funds and banks), this research has shown that syndicates, associations and intermediary organizations significantly increase the effectiveness of actors in the science and technology system, especially universities. Because these institutions can greatly enhance the role of networking and communication between universities and various elements of society in the knowledge-based economy.

A member of the faculty of Amirkabir University of Technology stated: This research provides valuable strategies and insights for universities in terms of setting the strategy and organizing the marketing of academic scientific and technological capabilities, especially for universities that are becoming innovative and entrepreneurial universities in the future. In addition to providing theoretical foundations, this research also provides operational solutions such as how to strengthen social platforms in the digital context for effective communication between universities and industry, marketing mechanisms for university capabilities and digital marketing, and establishing technological companies and joint research institutes.

He said: This research has been carried out with the support of Amirkabir University of Technology over the past years.

He emphasized: Amirkabir University of Technology, as the mother of the country’s industrial universities, has made access to this volume and variety of industry data possible in this research.

The professor from Amirkabir University of Technology concluded by saying: The results of this research were recently published in the Journal of the Knowledge Economy
