In line with the strategic goals of Amirkabir University of Technology to become an academic energy hub in the country and based on the development plans of the Faculty of Management, Science and Technology, the “Energy Economics” major was launched at the master’s level at Amirkabir University of Technology.
While announcing this news, Dr. Mehdi Majidpour, Dean of the Faculty of Management, Science and Technology, added: “Today, one of the main challenges facing the country is the imbalance in the supply and demand of various energy carriers such as gas, electricity, gasoline and diesel, which, according to official statistics, will intensify in the coming years. Organizing the field of energy policy and economics in the country requires the training and role-playing of elites and top talents. It seems that the academic community in the country should play a more prominent and active role in this field.”
Dr. Majidpour pointed out that in the current environment, even knowledge-based companies active in the field of energy do not have the necessary space to enter into activity. The energy imbalance that we are witnessing now is the result of decades of incorrect planning in the country, which has had adverse economic effects, environmental and health consequences, and even energy security. While appreciating the efforts and comprehensive support of Dr. Rahaei, the president of the university, he added that Amirkabir University of Technology, with its abundant capacities, considers entering the energy field to be one of its strategic priorities, and accordingly, the field of energy economics will accept students at the master’s level for the first time at Amirkabir University of Technology from October 1403. While appreciating the cooperation with the faculties of physics and energy engineering and petroleum engineering, he pointed out that in addition to developing educational programs, other research programs are also on the agenda in collaboration with other faculties.
